Laughter
A Wellness Corner Blog Post By NRCDV’s Wellness Warriors

We’ve all heard this cliché repeated countless times. And while laughter may not necessarily be the best medicine, it’s true that a belly laugh is good for the body. Not only can laughter ease tension and relieve stress, it can boost your immune system, relieve pain, and increase personal satisfaction. On top of the health benefits, a hearty laugh just feels great.
The work of advocates and activists is challenging and often very serious. Making time for fun helps us to balance our lives and sustain ourselves as we work to end violence and dismantle oppression. Here are a few ways to add a little humor to your day:- Connect with people you love. You’re far more likely to laugh with others than by yourself.
- Watch a funny animal video.
- Look up popular funny hashtags on social media, like #misheardlyrics or #reasonsmykidiscrying. Some of the results are hilarious.
- If all else fails, sit down and watch your favorite sitcom or stand-up comedy special.
Now go grab a friend and spend a few minutes giggling, chuckling, or even guffawing together.
