Prevention Highlights
July’s Prevention Tool of the Month is the Sport + Prevention Center from Raliance. The Center offers a vast array of resources to support athletic communities in preventing domestic and sexual violence and promoting social change. The Prevention Database houses violence prevention resources for members of the sports community, research on the value of using athletics to prevent violence, a learning exchange, and more.
In June, the Relationship Skills Class Curriculum from the Northwest Network was highlighted. The curriculum offers step-by-step guidance and tools for LGBTQ communities and allies to build healthy relationship skills. Each session in the six-week series explores a different topic: anti-oppression and values, expectations and negotiation, accountability, boundaries, conflict, and community connections. Content originates from the experiences and knowledge of a survivor support group.
For May, HEART Women & Girls was featured. HEART offers culturally sensitive resources that promote Muslim women’s rights, agency, healing, mindfulness, and anonymity. Their online resource center features publications on sexual and reproductive health for women and girls, information for parents on how to have “the Sex Talk,” videos and webinar recordings on health and sexual violence, and more.
In April, we highlighted Project Consent who believes that education is the key to starting conversations that serve as the catalyst to ending rape culture. Through multimedia campaigns and an educational curriculum on promoting healthy sexuality and relationships, Project Consent works to dismantle rape culture, promote a culture of consent, and support survivors.Be sure to check out the PreventIPV Tools Inventory to learn about more promising programs and innovative practices!
