  1. It’s not that simple

    whenwomenrefuse:

Had a huge argument with my husband the other day because after yet another allegation against yet another celebrity he said why do women allow it, why don’t they shut men down when it starts? An abuse of power is an abuse of power- don’t blame the victim! I then ran down my own stories to him to explain things more simply. How I had a mild concussion because a man head butt me in a club when I refused to dance with him. How I ignored a guys advances while walking with my friend and he berated me to the point of tears. How I didn’t want to give a guy my number so he threw a glass bottle at me. How I had to threaten to report sexual harassment in high school and destroy someone’s football career after he cornered me in a staircase and wouldn’t let me go. How I smile and say hello to every man who speaks to me even though I don’t want to because I walk alone and am afraid of retaliation. They intimidate you and make you feel weak and scared and that’s why we don’t just put a stop to it- if only it were that simple.
