So many white people become fighters for racial justice only when they go to college, or if they make a non-white friend, or when they become Democrat. But this is already too late. People of color and the issues they face have been here the whole time.

This is why allies, now, must become involved in teaching white children about racial justice. Providing the skills necessary to uncover and check their privilege are things that parents and teachers need to be doing for white kids. White parents should also encourage positive interactions with other non-white children, to normalize the ethnoracial diversity that makes up the true face of “white” countries.

Some people may say, “Well, this is too much, isn’t it? Telling a white child that they have privilege in society over their non-white peers?” We say no, it isn’t too much. If black parents can teach their children about the way their recent ancestors were chained, abused, and forced to work for the white man’s gain, then white parents should also be able to teach this, and much much more.
